lOCK BOX CHALLENGES

We’re excited to continue this new activity on the farm this fall. The Lock Box Challenge is a combination of an outdoor escape room and a scavenger hunt. It serves as a great team building activity, educational exercise for school groups, or just a fun way to pass time with friends trying to complete the mission!

You’ll receive a farm map and the first clue to get started. Your group will need to interpret clues to accomplish the goal. The goal? Find and obtain four puzzle pieces to assemble … but, each puzzle piece is inside a locked box - you’ll have find the box and solve the clues to get the correct combination to open it!

Are you ready for the challenge? Ask an admission staff member upon arrival for the map and first set of clues! You’ll be exploring the farm for the activity, so bring comfortable shoes and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty.

LOOKING FOR THAT PERFECT PUMPKIN?

Come on over to the pumpkin patch at L&A Family Farms, where you'll find pumpkins of all sizes and colors for baking or decorating. Use our hayride wagon and little wagons to easily pick, transport, and purchase your pumpkins. Pumpkins will be brought back to our pumpkin shed where they will be weighed for purchase.

Pumpkins are sold by the pound. They are not included with the general admission ticket.

CHOOSE FROM THE PRE-PICKED SELECTION

Browse our selection of pre-picked pumpkins if you prefer not to walk around the patch. After purchasing, park in one of our convenient pumpkin loading zone spaces to easily transport your pumpkin. No admission fee if you are only coming for pre-picked pumpkins.

HAYRIDE:

We will give hayrides to the U-pick pumpkin patch this year. For $3 per person you can go to the U-pick patch without paying for a general admission ticket.

U-PICK ZINNIAS AND DAHLIAS

Come pick a bouquet of flowers to take home with you. Over 65 different zinnias and over 100 different dahlias to choose from. Flowers should be available till our first frost.

  • For the safety of our visitors and livestock, we do not allow pets in the maze unless they are service animals.

  • - While visiting, please park in the designated areas at our farm store and pick up a farm map so you can see where the animals and gardens are located.

    - Remember, this is an actual farm and our trails and paths are not paved or weather proof, so expect uneven ground and on occasion, mud. Please wear appropriate clothes and shoes for a more enjoyable time in the country.

    - While visiting the animal areas please, please, please, approach these areas slowly and quietly. Loud noises and sudden movements can spook the animals, especially the chickens, which might cause them to get out of their pens and increase our work load.

    - Do NOT touch our fences! All of our fences are electrified, which helps keep the animals in and the predators out. During the day some of our fences may be turned off, but you will not know this, so assume all fences are hot. Please warn your children to not touch the fences!

    - Do not get into the pens with the animals! These are actual wild farm animals, not animals in a petting zoo, so they can be dangerous.

    - Please stay on the trails and paths! Compaction is a problem with repeat traffic over a given time; this will make it uninhabitable for plant life and result in unhealthy soil. While strolling through the gardens, remember theses veggies are our income, so please do not walk on the plants or sample the good-looking food.

*This farm is our family business and our home, so please respect our workload, privacy, and rules so we can continue to open our farm to you. We hope your visit to our farm is a fun and memorable experience. Our expectation is that you and your family will get to encounter new things and get to see how your food is raised, mirroring a more natural model instead of an industrial one. When you leave, we hope you have a better understanding as to what goes on in the agriculture community.

  • Need a cool treat to beat the heat? We have shake-ups, old-fashioned sodas, We Li Kit Ice Cream, and shaved ice.

No food items in the sunflower season

  • We recommend our local Airbnb located just a mile down the road. You can relax and unplug on private Lake Waunetta in a spacious: Woodbine Cabin.

  • We love to bring folks together for socialization and fun.  This would be good for church groups, clubs, corporate family fun days, team building, or any social gathering.

If your group would like to have a more private experience at L&A Family Farms, please consider visiting the farm Monday – Thursday daytimes or evenings.

We will try to arrange for your group’s specific needs.
